CAL update

I am on round 12 of the CAL doily.

I started it yesterday.  It's slow going for me. Why? Oh, let me tell you why, so glad you asked.

I was cross stitching on the Rabbits Run Saturday night...having so much fun....in fact I was having so much fun I never even picked up the crochet hook until Monday...but let's go back to Saturday shall we.

There I was happily watching TV with the Hubs and cross stitching away. I had cut a rather long strand of thread, being lazy I just did not want to have to keep threading needles, so I cut it long...that was mistake number one.  Then as I was really getting into my cross stitching and watching the TV at the same time, I wasn't really paying attention (mistake number two) to what I was doing and when I pulled the thread from behind, I grabbed it extra hard and instead of thread my hand grabbed the needle...it stabbed me.  It went in so deep into the meat of my hand that I had to pull it out with my other hand. Ouch! Yeah, there were a few years, but mostly I was stunned. It hurt, you know because it was a size 24 tapestry needle that was dull without a point....but mostly it hurt my feelings that I am so accident prone that I could not even cross stitch without getting a boo boo! Pathetic, I know.

I picked up the cross stitching again the next day...with a much smaller strand of floss, and paying more attention....so I was having loads of fun...and I plan to continue to cross stitch, too.

So I started the doily on Monday...figured I had better get off my duff and get it finished. I don't like doing picots...and this doily is full of them....but I will press on....I am on round 12....taking the next day off to cross stitch...and then come Wednesday I will crochet again.

There is also a knitted shawl I am thinking about making....I know...where did that come from? I haven't knitted in a coons age....well....I am getting bored with the .....wait for it....crocheting...I know, crazy right! I guess I haven't done it in so long until it's not that big of deal anymore to me.

I hope to have pics soon....and more Mo adventures, too.

Wishing you all a most lovely day.

  5. Never thought I'd hear you say you were bored with crochet! I'm sorry about the needle accident. I actually flinched when I read it. I hope it's healing well. Glad you're enjoying cross stitch again, but I'll bet you'll be back to crochet before long. You won't be able to stay away.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I think it's neat that you work on several different mediums at a time.. it will keep your mind sharp. Sorry about the stabbing.. hope it heals fast! We're at the beach and the surf is pounding just 30-40 feet from our door! Hope to get some pix tomorrow. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. Ugh--the picots are getting to me, too!! I'm on round 23... so. many. picots. But I persevere because the end is near!!! I really love the look of this one. =)

It's great that you have so many creative outlets when you need a little change of 'scenery' in your crafts. =)
