Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Filet Crochet
I saw this in my travels across the net. It's from the 1940's, it was a mail order pattern from Alice Brooks for an alter cloth and panel.
There is something so peaceful about the look on Mary's face as she gazes away, all those little cherubs helping her on her journey into Heaven. I think I'd like to make this.
I am not catholic, so there is no real reason why I would want to make this, except that I have always admired Mary. Stop and think about it for a moment, if you were told the things Mary were told, would it not just blow your mind away? I know it would have mine.
I am falling in love with filet crochet.
Oh, and I am taking my good friend Vikki's advise...she had written in one of her comments to me that she never recalled me wanting to gouge my eyes out with a hook when I was crocheting (you know how I always want to gouge my eyes out when I am knitting) ...it kind of hit home.
I am always at peace when crocheting, never on edge, never upset, it is so stress free...maybe I should do the stress free things for a while. :) Just saying. So thank you Vikki for your sage advice.
Blessings to you always sweet friends
