Putting the Stitchy back in the Mc Floss!

The above photo shows the Just Cross Stitch magazine with the lovely heart as a pillow, and below that you can see what I have stitches thus far.   This is a SAL with my dear friend Mary. She's awesome. Go check out her blog. I can't stitch anything as lovely as Mary does, but I am most pleased that she is doing the SAL with me.  So much fun.

I am using the DMC 304 red thread. I had thought about breaking down the pattern and doing some in green, pink and gold...but  I am giving this to Hubs for V-day so I wanted to keep it less girly as possible and just red for love.  He has no clue and since he doesn't read my blog (whew) then I can let you all take a peek as I progress.

I spent days doing Tunisian crochet and I finally came to a conclusion. I really don't like it. I can knit faster than I can do Tunisian knit stitch or purl, so why not just knit? I know, I kept asking myself the entire time I was doing it...why are you doing this again? I couldn't come up with a good  answer so I frogged it all and now am moving on.

I really need to work more on my shawl.

This is what I have knitted so far.  I have a long way to go.  But can you see the cool design element I was talking about in the other post.

Here's an up close picture:

I really adore this pattern. If you'd like to knit this shawl, then go here for the free pattern. I am using the Red Heart yarn called for in the pattern, but not the color way...I am using Petunia.  It's so lovely in read life. All purples and pinks and I just love it to pieces!  :)

Wishing you a lovely day and if I don't catch up with you later, then Happy Weekend, to ya, too.   :)

  4. You go girl..Now I like the tunisian crochet thing, so much better than knitting. The heart for your hubster is looking good. I think the shawl is awesome too. The colors look good and what is that one stitch that gives it some texture. You know I like the texture thing. You always have so much going on as far as the "crafty" thing. I can't do that..I envy you just a little for being able to have so many projects going. It would drive me crazy..Blessings

  6. WOW! Your needle is really smoking! You'll be finished in no time! Looking so pretty and love the floss color. Mine is looking dark, but I'm hoping it will show more red as I get into the skein. I've used this color before and liked it.
The shawl looks wonderful and love that color as well.
Hope today is a great stitching day for you!

  8. ooooooohhhhh... love the red heart and love the shawl. Petunias are some of my favorite flowers and that yarn definitely makes me think of them. Have a great weekend - stay warm. They are predicting snow here in Cincinnati tomorrow. I hope I can stay home. Hugs!

  10. I love the colorway you are using for the shawl! And I'm no fan of tunisian, either. I'd much rather knit! I haven't embroidered in so long; your beautiful Valentine's Day piece is giving me the yearning!

  11. Is that Red Heart Boutique Treasure? I'm working on a couple of samples in that yarn and I love the colour changes.

Actually you have two Red Hearts in this post! What a very gorgeous stitch pattern.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Haven't I seen you over at Snowcatcher too? :)

  13. That is a lovely pattern. I like doing projects all in one color as they work up quickly without all the color changing and backstitching. I've done many little heart patterns in redwork. Your shawl is lovely. Knitting and I didn't get along when I tried it several years ago. I probably feel about it the way you do about the Tunisian crochet. Best wishes, Tammy

  14. I'm now a new follower of yours. Found your blog through another one actually. What beautiful work you're doing. I went and checked the pattern out for the shawl and was very surprised that it calls for only 2 skeins! Is that really all it takes? I would love to do one up. Great job with your work and your blog both.

    1. Warm welcome to you Miss Linda Lee. :)

I am not sure if it takes 2 skeins or not. I am thinking it will really take 3 skeins, but I haven't even come to the end of the first skein yet, so I honestly can't say.

I'll try to up date with a shawl photo in a few days.

      Blessings always
